Approved contractors undergo a rigorous assessment process, covering a representative sample of their work, their premises, documentation, equipment, and the competence of their key supervisory staff. They are then re-assessed on a regular basis to ensure continued compliance.
Once registered with the NICEIC, contractors can access a range of support services, including technical advice, industry recognised training, industry literature and contractor insurance.
In addition to this NICEIC also provide certification and approval services for businesses and individuals across the heating, plumbing, renewable and insulation sectors. Our core approval services are supported by a number of products and services that are tailored specifically to contractor’s and their customer’s needs.
NICEIC operates an independent complaints procedure governing the technical standards of its Approved Contractor and Part P Domestic Installer Schemes. If the work of a registered contractor is found to be below the accepted technical standard, NICEIC can require the contractor to correct the work at no additional cost to the customer.
NICEIC regularly promotes the importance of employing a NICEIC registered contractor to homeowners. Aside from the assurance of safety and competence of work, additional benefits to the consumer include protection against substandard work through the NICEIC Platinum Promise and access to an independent complaints procedure, should a problem arise.
The Renewable Energy Consumer Code was set up by the Renewable Energy Association. The aim is to guarantee a high quality experience for consumers wishing to buy or lease small-scale energy generation systems for their homes. The Renewable Energy Consumer Code logo is a sign that the company has agreed to abide by the high standards set out in our Consumer Code.
Members are firms selling or leasing small-scale renewable or low carbon heat or power generation unit who have agreed to comply with the Renewable Energy Consumer Code. This Code is backed by Trading Standards Institute as part of its self-regulation initiative, the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme.
